The Very Secret Society of Women in Games

Start Small. Dream Big. Build Differently.

Mentoring irregular witches of irregular degrees since 2024.

A free-of-charge mentoring program — a coven for the ones the industry hasn’t made room for yet.

Who this is for

Every coven starts with someone who didn’t think they’d be let in. This one is for women and female-identifying people studying the Humanities and Philosophy or so called “soft science” degrees, hence the irregular students of irregular degrees, who suspect there’s a place for them in games but haven’t been shown the door yet.

If your path into the industry looks unconventional, that’s not a liability here. You belong here even if it doesn’t look like it yet.

Women in the Humanities often underestimate the value of their skills — critical thinking, storytelling, cultural analysis — and that lack of confidence can hold them back from roles in User Research, Game Design, UX Design, and Narrative Design. Those skills aren’t a detour into games; they’re exactly what the medium needs to grow richer and more thoughtful.

What we do

Personalized 1-on-1 mentorship is the heart of the program, wrapped in a set of concrete supports:

Personalized mentorship — direct, ongoing guidance from professionals working in games today.

Empowerment — helping you feel confident and in control of your career path.

Skills recognition — naming and valuing the strengths you already bring.

Self-marketing — practical strategies to showcase your skills and stand out.

CV workshops & feedback — building a CV that presents your potential compellingly.

Interview preparation — getting you ready for the conversations that matter.

Where the name comes from

The name draws inspiration from The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna — a homage to literature and to the Humanities that form the foundation of Natali’s own background.

“Bend the world to your needs. Do not be bent by it.”— Natali Rein

Natali faced the challenge of pursuing degrees often deemed “impractical” — a B.A. in American and English Studies & Art History, then an M.A. in Literature and Linguistics — and found her confidence in the world of video games. This program carries that spirit forward: encouraging women to blend their academic backgrounds and creativity to transform the industry, and themselves.
